Dr. K. C. Srivastava started his career as a teacher in Shivalik Public School (Residential School) in Chandigarh in 1976. He joined Sainik School Nargota in 1979 and after serving for more than ten years as a teacher, he joined D.A.V. Organization in 1990 as Principal in a Project School, DAV Public School, Moonidih Project, Moonidih. His keen administrative acumen and astute academic management won him the position of Dy. Director in the year 2004. When BCCL Management had a golden handshake with Kendriya Vidyalaya in 2000, he was saddled with the responsibility to head DAV Public School Koyla Nagar. The School had mere 700 students, but the number swelled up to 5403 in a short span of 10 years. The awards conferred on him include Teachers Merit Award (Sainik School) , Mahatma Hansraj Award from DAV Management and CBSE Merit Award 2010.

In July,2013 Ranchi Zone was divided into four zones.DAV Public School,Koylanagar became the Head office of Jharkhand Zone-1 and Dr.K.C.Srivastava became its Regional Director.
